Manila’s talented siblings DJ/Club owner Jon Herrera and fashion stylist Rosario Herrera launch their newest, sneaker- inspired t-shirt line, UNBREAKABLE, this October at the Team Manila Store, Power Plant Mall. The t-shirts carry designs that reflect the growing sneaker subculture around the world.
The obsession with sneakers, or kicks as sneaker fans like to call it, goes beyond buying and wearing them. It is a whole culture of collecting, trading, re-selling, discussing, analyzing, blogging, and appreciating today’s new obsession, the sneaker.
These non- athletic sneakers are the quintessential item of the youthful male. With its different colors, styles, and brands, it is one of the purest forms of individuality and uniqueness. Boys could be wearing the same exact outfit but find a way to stand out of the crowd through their different kicks. Now for Manila, it is through their Unbreakable t-shirts as well. Hard- core sneaker lovers, also called Sneakerheads, will find complementary t-shirt designs suitable to match their favorite sneakers.
Bringing together their music, art, and fashion influences, Jon and Rosario hope to promote individuality through sneakers and t- shirts. “We gotta keep it fresh,” says Jon Herrera, aka DJ Verse. “We won’t put something out that doesn’t connect to the people.” For the Herreras, this line has always been a personal project close to their hearts. Rosario adds, “We only do what feels right. We take a part of ourselves and we put it out there.”
Unbreakable has already attracted some of Manilas hottest recognized Sneakerheads such as Embassy DJ Mars Miranda, Power106 LA’s DJ Virman, Steak Productions’ Banjo Lorenzo, Promoters Gio and Tollo Bote, Models Mark Reyes and Rich Herrera, Actor Sal Ducii, and Allstars member Laurence Enua.
This is the Herrera’s second t-shirt line, following the success of Tru Youth, their LA and New York- based line inspired by successful creative individuals who found their passion in life and have stayed youthful. Hence, they have found their Tru Youth.
